Minister Miller participates actively in a variety of citizenship ceremonies and events related to citizenship throughout the week. His engagements also include visits to local organisations that offer essential services such as language training and job support to newcomers.

In the past year, Canada witnessed a significant influx of new citizens, totaling 393,500 between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, surpassing the previous year’s figure of nearly 364,000.

Toronto residents are encouraged to participate in Newcomer Day, which takes place on May 23. This event is hosted at Nathan Phillips Square and offers valuable information regarding settlement services, job opportunities, and Canadian history. The day will culminate in a citizenship ceremony that symbolizes the journey individuals undertake to become Canadian citizens.
