Making waves: Immigrant women in film

In 2024, Canadian Immigrant’s annual Immigrant Women of Inspiration feature will shine the spotlight on notable  Canadian immigrant women in film. These passionate storytellers behind the scenes — including producers, writers and directors —  have found unique ways to bring stories to life. Their passion and dedication to making sure the voices and talents are heard and seen by women in Canada and around the world inspires us. In their own ways, they have committed themselves to inspiring and leading others to do more. These women will be featured on our website and in the April 2024 Magazine issue.

Women of Inspiration: Our annual Women of Inspiration feature

Every year in March, in honour of International Women’s Day Canadian Immigrant has been recognizing some truly inspirational immigrant women in Canada.

A Canadian Immigrant judging committee selects several women each year for their achievements and influence within their field of expertise. Every year, a different theme or category is selected.

Since 2014, women are being selected in the following areas: Female empowerment (2014); entrepreneurship (2015); academia (2016); Arts (2017); immigrant women advocates (2018); Women of Influence 2019  Changemakers (2020) Heroes on the frontlines in the pandemic (2020)  Immigrant women in science, technology and engineering (2022)You can also find out more about the following: Immigrant women working in finance by 2023.
