Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge Offers A Luxury Safari Stay

We were spoilt with the pampering atmosphere on Thorntree River Lodge – Zambia. We were delighted to find the same level of luxury and excellent service at the Sabi Sabi Earth LodgeFor 4 days.
We could have been content to enjoy our large suite and the common areas at the lodge. But we went out. Wildlife safaris are conducted twice a day. Each safari provided close encounters of the local wildlife. We saw lion cubs so cute that we forgot about their deadly mothers, and we finally saw a leopard!
This safari in South Africa exceeded our expectations of what a luxury safari experience should be.
Traveling To The Sabi Sabi Private Reserve
After our 3 days at the game lodge in ZambiaWe flew back to South Africa. We flew back to South Africa. AirLink The smaller Embraer jets are a great alternative. When only four passengers boarded a plane that could hold 37, we felt like we were on a private jet.
We flew over Victoria Falls as we left Zambia. On leaving Zambia, we flew above the incredible Victoria Falls. Our stay in ZambiaWe explored the Victoria Falls – from the ground or by helicopter. It was amazing to see the cascading water as we left.
As we approach the Kruger Mpumalanga International AirportWe could see vast fields of green below us. We knew we’d have a good supply of fresh produce in South Africa. It was hard to believe that there were huge safari parks nearby.
We stepped off the plane onto the tarmac. With so few passengers on board, we were able to get our luggage very quickly. Our driver loaded the bags and we settled down for a 2 hour journey to the lodge. Bananas were everywhere. We got a glimpse of local life as we passed through towns. Locals had large stalls selling fruit and vegetables on the roadside. The last part was on rough dirt roads, as we approached the Sabi Sabi Private Reserve.
Options for Flying Out
We were pleased to learn that we would be leaving the lodge at the smaller departure. Skukuza Airport. It took us less than an hour drive to get to this airport. When we found out that there was a private airport on the Sabi Sabi Private ReserveWe wondered if it would be better to return for another visit.
We left the Sabi Sabi Private ReserveEnter the Kruger National ParkReach the Skukuza Airport. We got a glimpse of how different Kruger could be on a safari. The strict rules are posted at the entrance. We also saw the closed safari cars that were required to enter Kruger. This was a very different environment to what we saw on our private game reserve experience.

An Amazing Safari Lodge
The following are some of the ways to get in touch with each other: Sabi Sabi Private ReserveThere are 4 different lodges in the South-Western part of the peninsula. Greater Kruger National Park. The reserve was situated on a central flat between two rivers, which provided an environment that attracted many different species of wildlife. Animals regularly crossed boundaries between the private reserve and Kruger because there were no fences.
Sabi SabiThe Sabie River, which means the river, was the inspiration for the name. “river of fear”. This was a reflection of the area which was teeming with wildlife.

We thought it would be a long walk before we found the resort. The entrance was devoid of any building structures. We first saw the resort when we walked along the path.
The entrance was below the main buildings, and the 13 suites of each building. They were high above local area and had stunning views of the South African bushveld. We were able to enjoy the views at sunrise and sunset every day.

We checked in, and were then escorted to a massive suite. The suite was beautiful with many different areas for relaxation. The large king size bed came with a mosquito netting. After a long safari day, we could relax in a large soaker bathtub. Showers are located both indoors, and outdoors.
We enjoyed the beautiful views from our large covered patio. Each suite had a small pool, lounge chairs and a large umbrella. We had a patio with a table and chairs which could be used as a private dining area.
We found a well-stocked refrigerator with a variety of wines and spirits. Even a bottle sparkling wine was on ice. The extensive coffee and tea bar is great.
The most interesting item we found was a complete kit for artists. I was really hoping to take up painting during this trip. But it never happened.

Enjoyable Public Spaces to Relax
We found other spaces that were equally relaxing. Sabi Sabi Earth LodgeRelax and enjoy. The design was earthy, filled with local art and architecture.
The bar area was equipped with a large roaring fireplace that was perfect for when it was cooler at the start or end of the day. We also enjoyed the library.
The resort had an enormous wine cellar that contained over 6,000 bottles. The venue was available to us for dinner but unfortunately we did not have the time or energy to enjoy such a treat.
The resort had a large spa that offered a variety of treatments. We never had time to visit the spa because we were so busy for 4 days. There were days that we wanted to get off the jeeps for a good massage.

Early morning food and drink
The morning game-drive started at 6am. We were awakened by a phone call at 5:30, and had a few minutes to grab a coffee or a quick snack before heading out. our morning game drive. We never had to worry about going hungry. One day, we were surprised to find a coffee stop during our morning game drive.
We were greeted with a full breakfast when we returned from the morning game drive. The buffet tables featured a healthy selection. Breakfast hot food always featured a special. The only time we had a breakfast challenge was when we skipped the morning game drive. Full breakfast service began around 9am. We were early risers so we had coffee and a snack at 6am.
Lunch was available at 1pm. The lunch menu was the same for all four days of our stay.
In the lobby, afternoon tea is served at 3:30 pm. Afternoon Tea was available at 3:30 pm in the lobby area.

Every day, as the sunset approached, our jeeps would stop. We served cocktails and small snacks with a breathtaking African sunset view.

The Best Food And Drink To End Our Days
We usually return to the lodge for dinner around 7pm. Each night, we stayed at the Sabi Sabi Earth LodgeDinner was served in an entirely different place. We ate in the garden one night, with the sounds from the wildlife very close. We sat in the lobby at candlelit tables on another night. The Boma Dinner was a unique experience with the fires, safari lamps and the endless night skies above us.
At dinner, the chef visited each table to present the dinner options. Each course had a variety of options, including vegetarian options. We always had a good selection of fresh local foods.
We were so tired that we chose to have simple dinners without desserts, and we went to our suite earlier. On our last night we were tempted by a delicious caramel and chocolate treat that we couldn’t resist!
Throughout the resort, wine and cocktails are available at all meals. The wine selection is always excellent. We found many of the same tasty wines on the menu as we did on Wine tasting in StellenboschEarlier in this trip,
The food was plentiful and tasty, with a wide variety of choices. David continued to search for exotic food and tried warthogs, springboks and ostriches. Customer Service Exceeds ExpectationsOn Our Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge Offers Luxury Safari Stay
From the moment of our arrival, we knew that we would be treated to a great customer service experience. We were always greeted at the front door with a warm or cold cloth and a welcome drink. It was always a special treat. 3 hours of jeep bouncing.
The receptionists and lodge manager regularly checked in on guests to make sure we had what we needed. The restaurant staff got to really know us over the four-day trip. They knew our favorite coffee, stopped asking us when we refused dessert and continued to try to tempt us by offering great wine selections. On our last night, they made certain we got a special chocolate treat. The people we met made our stay even more special.
Our room was meticulously kept during our stay. The housekeeping staff refreshed the room twice a day. On our last night, a special treat was laid out on the bed.
Ruan was an excellent ranger who led our game drives. He and Donald, the tracker, went above and beyond to provide us with an amazing safari experience. They searched patiently for the sights and experiences they wanted to share. Our game drivesWe were pleasantly surprised by the service.

You don’t have to travel far for wildlife experiences
We expected to see lots of wildlife on Game drives during our safari lodge staySouth Africa. When we checked in at the Sabi Sabi Earth LodgeWe were warned that we should not leave our suite alone after dark. The resort was known to be home to both elephants and rhinestones. We were given the same instructions. Safari Lodge in Zambia: Enjoy your stay!We learned that we must obey the warning.
We were amazed the first time we saw an elephant wandering past our patio during lunch. We found them regularly at the pond near the garden, where we ate. On our final day, we even saw an elephant family drinking from the pond.
We were walking back to our suite from lunch one day when we saw an elephant stalking us. He followed us to our suite, and we ran inside when we feared he would be right down the path. Later that evening, our escort confirmed the elephant was still standing on our rooftop. Our neighbour was sprayed by an elephant that came up to his pool one day.
We were not surprised to see elephants roaming around the resort. We saw antelopes approach our pool on several occasions. We waited every night to see if the hippos would leave the pond in front of our suite and walk ashore. We were disappointed to never see a hippo in person on the property.

We Saw The African Big Five on TGame Drives a Day
We had so Many Great wildlife encountersOn this safari lodge trip. We had two game drives a day in open jeeps, with only two other people. We were so excited to see all of the Big 5 African animals so very close – elephants, buffalo, rhinos, lions and leopards. Some we saw multiple times, and others in large groups. We saw four of the five on Our previous trip in Africa. We were therefore delighted to finally see leopards on our trip.
We had so many exciting animal encounters. We saw lion cubs playing under the watchful eyes of the lioness on several days. We saw the remains from both lions’ and leopards’ night kills. The animals were cleaning their fur of blood. We saw endangered wild dogs and Hyenas waiting for other hunters to finish their kills.
We Got More Stunning Animal Experiences
On our game drives we saw There are many other animals as well. A visit to a pond allowed us to see hippos swimming in the water. Zebras ran through the fields. Giraffes walked across the path before us.
We saw large groups of Impala galloping through the fields on every drive. We also saw other antelopes like Kudu, Eland and Waterbuck. The warthogs, which were in abundance, fled when the jeep approached.
Sitting back we got a Animal life in the wild. The zoom lens on our cameras gave us incredible close-up views of the animals. We watched the elephants, giraffes, and other animals strip the trees of their leaves. Elephants batted eyelashes. And lions showed their teeth. We were fascinated by our close-up pictures.
Every day, we had A new exciting animal encounter. We were so pleased that this African adventure exceeded all wildlife expectations during our luxury safari at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge
