It was a sunny spring evening as a group of industry VIPs gathered on the rooftop patio restaurant of Toronto’s Drake Hotel to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Softvoyage.

Dan Langevin (chief commercial officer and partner of Softvoyage) welcomed the gathering of friends, colleagues and clients, noting that 25 years is 175 in any other industry. He told them that Softvoyage has spent the last two and half decades developing the best possible technology for its tour operators and travel agents partners.

Introducing Softvoyage’s staff – to loud applause – Langevin told his audience that as a company: “We work as a family.”When it comes to its partners in the industry, the philosophy that has shaped its business is that “We’re in it together.”

And clearly that’s the case, as the 25th anniversary celebrations also included a celebration of Softvoyage’s first customers – Voyages Bergeron and Bel Air Travel (its first B2C client).

Now, while Softvoyage launched in 1999, its arrival on the scene came about when Steve Ringuet’s Sirev and Moise Levy’s Levy & Associates decided to join forces with the vision of making life easier for tour operators and travel agents.

And when you consider that Softvoyage had its origins in a world before the Internet, iPhones, Facebook and Google were around, it becomes pretty clear that the company’s founders have been pioneers of the kind of technology and services that it provides to the Canadian travel industry.

And that is reason enough to celebrate.

Happy 25th, Softvoyage.
