There was a lot to see and experience on the Algarve Coast of Portugal. We found much to see and do exploring the Algarve Coast in Portugal. Our stay in SintraWe headed south to Algarve. We loved the Algarve on our first visitWe were thrilled to be returning.
Everywhere we look, we find the Amazing seaside caves, cliffs and cliffsThe region was renowned for. We discovered new things on day trips. Small towns in the Algarve. Everywhere you looked, there was colourful art and classic Portuguese tiles. We enjoyed a good meal every day and had fresh seafood. We found fresh seafood on every day of our visit. Stunning Seaside Caves and Cliffs
You can find out more about this by clicking here. Our first visit to AlgarveWe were able to see the stunning cliffs of this southern coastline of Portugal. We stayed at the stunning Pine Cliffs ResortThe views from the cliffs were breathtaking all day and night.
We knew there were many more Algarve Coast cliffs and caves are stunningExplore. Explore. Cruise from Barcelona To LisbonWe had one day in PortimaoThe Algarve Coast. As we cruised into the port, we saw the cliffs along the coast. We decided to skip a trip to the Benagil Caves because we had more time after docking in Lisbon.
One day we planned A day trip to CaroveiroA boat trip to the Benagil Caves is available. Although we did not have a chance to take a boat ride due to high seas, we still saw the amazing cliffs of the area and the caves. We walked the boardwalk and explored the shoreline views and cliffs of Algar Seco.
From Caraveiro, we continued along the shoreline to Lagos. After spending some time in this harbour city, we headed to the stunning cliffs at Ponta da Piedade.
We were pleasantly surprised by the caves, cliffs, and other natural features along the Algarve Coast.
Discover the charm of small towns
We always discover something new on our visits to the Algarve Explore small towns. We started This visit to PortugalPortimao is a must-see on our way to the Algarve. Cruise from Barcelona To Lisbon. We enjoyed the streets. A day in Portimao’s old town.
Ferragudo, a charming hillside town located across the harbour of Portimao, was visible. As we cruised along, we were captivated with the views of whitewashed cottages and a local church. We also saw an old fort. Ferragudo, a small town in the south of Portugal, was a great place to explore. A visit to Portimao.
One day we headed to Loulé. We started at the interesting fountain in the main square and then visited the Town Hall and the Mercado Loulé.
Next, we visited the Loulé CastleWe walked the walls, toured the museum, and explored the grounds. We finished our tour at Hermitage. Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Ermida da Nossa Senhora da Conceicao). This small temple had a beautiful interior and was well worth a visit. our visit to Loulé.
On another Day We are heading to the charming TaviraLunch at the highly recommended Al Mesa Restaurant. We walked around the cobblestoned streets and climbed the hills to enjoy the panoramic view. We visited the Tavira castle and the Igreja de Santiago. Tavira is a perfect day trip.
On a trip to see the cliffs at Ponta da PiedadeWe started our day in Lagos with a lunch and a stroll around the harbour. From there we headed up Avenida dos Descobrimentos and saw the historical sites at Forte da Ponta da Bandeira (also known as Fortress of Nossa Senhora da Penha de França) and the Lagos Castle (also known as the Governor’s Castle or Castelo dos Governadores). We were glad to have a quick stop in Lagos before heading to the cliffs.

Colourful Art Exploring Algarve Coast
On our day trips, colourful street art was everywhere. We stopped to admire their creativity and varied themes.
Art on the streets is not limited to murals. We found interesting sculptures in the towns that we visited. Some were historical, while others were purely art.
When we visited Portugal, we always searched for the The iconic blue and white tiles of traditional Portugese architecture. We were thrilled to discover buildings with tiled facades as we wandered through the Small towns in the Algarve. And we saw even objects decorated with tile around town.
We were thrilled when Pine Cliffs Resort was our choice for a stayWe found intricate tile work all over the property. We found colorful and artistic tiles. There were also tiles that revealed more about the culture and history of Portugal’s different regions.
When we explored the Algarve Coast, Portugal, we found colourful art everywhere.
Wherever We Went, we Found Great Drinks and Fresh Seafood.
We found the food in the Algarve to be fresh and plentiful. We started our days with delicious breakfast options on Our stay at Pine Cliffs Resort. We started our day at the pool with cappuccino, mimosas and a mimosa.
We were always spoilt for choice as seafood lovers. We tried the seafood Cataplana several times. It never disappointed.
We were thrilled to find a great pasta. We were even happier to find a delicious pizza for lunch.
We always enjoyed finding refreshing drinks while on our travels. Paulo, our bartender on the day we visited, made us a fun cocktail every day. Our stay at Pine Cliffs Resort. Or if you wanted a bubbly beverage, the Mirador Champagne BarLots of options were available. There are plenty of ways to end a day with a cocktail and a view.
David always looked for dark stouts that were local. He was pleased to find a few new ones in the Algarve.
Local sweet treat helped us finish our meal. We were even treated to a fantastic specialty coffee.
We had no problem finding delicious food and drink to fuel us on our exploration of the Algarve Coast, Portugal.
A Pampering Holiday on the Coast
We wanted to relax on our return trip to the Algarve Coast. The Algarve Coast was a wonderful place to visit. Pine Cliffs Resort is a luxury resort.We found everything we wanted for a relaxing treat. Our upgraded suite was spacious and had two patios where we could enjoy the views. Our welcome amenity was a lovely selection of local treats.
The resort was located on the edge. Algarve cliffs are breathtaking. We could always find a quiet place to escape. There were multiple pools on the property.
A 9-hole course included the world-famous hole that overlooks the gorge, and several tennis courts were available for a morning game. There were many things to do for the children. There is also a full spa menu for adults.
It was easy for us to keep busy with a 14-day stay. When we weren’t enjoying the property, we could also enjoy the nearby attractions. Pine Cliffs ResortThe Algarve Coast is a great place to explore in Portugal.

We had a wonderful time exploring the Algarve Coast of Portugal for two weeks. Our luxury resort was the perfect place to relax and a great base for road trips. We found great places to eat and drink, whether we stayed in the resort or ventured outside. On our day trips we discovered so many amazing cliffs, caves, and stunning views. The small towns we visited in the Algarve were charming.
After leaving the Algarve we headed towards The Alentejo regionFirst time. We knew that we would return to Algarve Coast time and again. Travels in Portugal.
